Toddler Push Car
I decided to build this project because I have seen things similar to it on Pinterest and loved the idea. I wanted to build it for my niece and make it big enough for her to grow into it. To build this, I used common board and parts from a longboard.
My first step was to cut out the main side pieces at 18in x 6in. The front piece at 8in x 6in. The back piece at 8in x 10in. The smaller side pieces at 12in x 4in. Then two of the small accessory pieces using the band saw at 2in x 4in and one at 1in x 4in. I used the chop saw to cut all of these.
Next, I took the main sides, front, and back pieces and brad nail them together. Then I wood glue them other side pieces to it and made it dry faster using clamps.
Then, I took a longboard and removed one of the trucks and all four wheels. I cut a roof piece using the table saw at 18in x 8in and attached the trucks to it as handle bars.
Then, I wood glued the three accessory pieces to the window area and screwed on the roof piece. Once it was all secure I sanded every edge so that it was rounded as much as it could be and also sanded all the faces to help prevent splinters.
Lastly, I made it look like a Volkswagen by staining the bottom half of car all the way around, adding a grey painted line going around, and added the logo. Then, I drilled a hole through the bottom sides and attached the wheels using spare bolts and rubber spacers.
As a bonus, here is a photo of me riding it with my niece!
