Fugue State Records is a new series of Design Objects by Brooklyn based Artist Abe Lincoln Jr.
Abe takes the form factor of the iconic 7" record and has created a fictional "Extreme Music Label" called Fugue State Records. By releasing numerous "singles" and other band "merch" (flyers, tees, from the fictional bands on the roster, Abe is going to tell the story of the record label as more releases come out. By using laser etching to create his Design Objects, he takes the look and feel of 45 RPM records and replicates them using unconventional mediums (such as wood, acrylic plastic and more). These are Design Objects, not actual singles. There is no music on these objects. All the bands on the label are fictional.
The first release is from Iceland's premier Black Metal band, Asspanther. Their lead single"Eucharism" b/w "Reli "Eucharism" b/w "Religion is Mind Control" is their love song to the hypocrisy found in the houses of the holy all over the world. Expect the massive blast beats and surgical virtuosity that one comes to expect from Iceland's Dark Masters. The Asspanther logo was designed by Russian logo artist AK at http://lakmus.ru
Another aspect of the project is the flyers. Abe has reached out to his Artist and Designer friends to create flyers for shows in their area. Abe gives them the two headlining bands, and lets the Artists create opening bands, venue etc. Artists such as Damion Silver, Avoid Pi, MATS!?!?! and more are featured, with more on the way.
