This semester my university provided me a sketch design floor plan for a new house, and I was instructed to develop the design based on research into building legislation in order to improve/resolve the design. The design was based on the following assumptions:
- The site is prone to flooding. Flood wise reports for neighbouring properties recommend an AHD of 7.5m.
- According to Brisbane City Council the site is susceptible for Acid Sulphite soils. It was assumed the dwelling would sit on 90x90 SHS posts cast into 2000mm deep, 450 diameter concrete piers.
The process of research and using Revit to produce this set of construction drawings for a residential design with annotations helped me improve my technical skills necessary for documenting domestic constructions and practical knowledge regarding the use of building materials and selection of the appropriate system for small scale construction projects.
