Custom logotype design for PetitSesame, an online store for art, photography and designer products.
Petit Sesame was founded by three French entrepreneurs loving products and design. Their goal is to offer a wide selection of designer items sold exclusively to you bypassing traditional retail channels so that prices remain affordable.
The design process
The design process of this logotype follows the perfect briefing, given by a client who knows exactly what a new fashion brand needs: uniqueness and functionality. My very first approach was to create a script logo, because any other typographic solution would not catch the attention as an script one does, but also because is good to give a more human feeling to customer when the most of the sells are online. The very first sketch was based on my own handwriting, and the first feedback was about not to use the triple ligature ‘tit’ at Petit, and drawing it wilder.
The functional requirements for the brand were: simple, good legibility at 23px height (to be placed in a head of 45px), and recognisability as an app icon.
Resolution
Once a final sketch was chosen, it was digitized. I tried different solutions until I found the right one.
