School Notes is a series of hand-made artists books, comprised of old school papers from my time in middle and high school.
Using a conceptual artist's approach, where a series of rules and parameters determine the appearance of the final piece, School Notes repurposes objects that were once utilitarian into the foundations of artistic expression.
In this project specifically, areas of the page which were cut out and filled in with collage are places where I had previously scratched something out. A former kind of self-correction born of mistakes here now becomes the guide for a visual system, which ties otherwise unrelated and obsolete objects together.
