Watermelon is a symbol of Palestinians' public expression. It was used as an indirect protest symbol as it contains all 4 colors of the Palestinian flag.

This artwork is made with a combination of Egyptian-Palestinian roots. “There are no grapes or figs like you” referring to the watermelon, and it is what egyptian street fruit sellers shout out loud when it’s watermelon season in Egypt. Therefore, I made it refer to Palestine instead, making it “There are no grapes or figs like you, Palestine”.
