L. A. G. Senna's profile

Urban human homes

This is an open project, which I intend to build over the course of a year, bringing together photographs of homes in the most varied human representations; homes that bring to the scene the diversity revolving around the fundamental principle of the right to shelter and security. It is tremendously difficult to translate someone's home, but the image has the capacity of capturing beyond the visible shallow form, penetrating into meanings – fluid, discreet, indecent – that make up the imaginary of what may be “a home for oneself”.
Human Urban Homes” (fr. Port.: Lares Urbanos Humanos) is not an isolated project, but an integrated arm of a research line in the field of Education for intellectual and cultural minorities, in which imagery research contributes to the conceptualization of this Human who is recurrently found into a vulnerable situation at school. This does not, however, prevent photography from occupying and exploring a central role as a piece of visual art, under an aesthetic of social reflection based on the formativeness (dear L. Pareyson!) that photography allows us to produce.
This is the first time in my career – long… – that I face the challenge, both aesthetic and political, of tying into one single domain photography as artistic production and theoretical-conceptual research in the field of Education. I am sure this assembling of Humanities is an interesting path for the academic language in this post-Cartesian century.
