Game Time
...........................

This project has been an absolute blast to create.

The whole concept behind it revolves around July 15th, 2014: my 23rd birthday. I'm calling it my Jordan Year. This is the year that I'm finally going to start doing my own thing, creating what I want to create, exploring what I want to explore, and taking my skills and mind to another level; And it all starts here.

The idea behind this project was to do something I've always wanted do: design my own skateboard decks. Because this is my Jordan Year and Jordan pretty much ruled the game, I wanted to create something that touched on that but in a different way. I chose to play off of the word "game" by using video game characters that inspired me as a kid when I was growing up. I designed each character as if they had their "game face" on. You'll notice that a couple of them have a little smirk as well. You know when you're about to fight another character in a video game and you know you're about to win? That's how I feel this year and I wanted that feeling to be reflected in the design.

This was also an opportunity to exercise my long-dormant illustration skills. I've really wanted to find a way to put it to use and was sick of waiting for the right freelance project to
come along and give me that chance.

That's pretty much it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go to Foot Locker and buy my first-ever pair of Air Jordan sneakers while listening to "88" by Wale.
