Deepa Source Package for Textile Samples

Deepa Textiles known for their high-end commercial textiels released a line of consumer end fabric to make their designs available to a wider audience. I was interning at Deepa at the time and was tasked with designing the packaging for the sample box, and assist in applying and incorporating elements of the developing brand.

The concept was to make it look like a well traveled suitcase, and each time a rep would add new samples on the inside, there would be accompanying stickers that would be placed on the outside. It would evolve the appearance of the package and also act as a visual cue to the rep which samples had been updated at a glance.
There were several unique textile categories - health care, office and hospitality, so each set of samples needed to be clearly arranged for identification purposes. This was achieved by creating a row for each of the sample categories and assigning a color to each set. A new group of stickers would be illustrated to correspond with the new fabric styles, and a new 'hang tag' would be issued.
This booklet also accompanied the sample package, and each fabric sample had a corresponding page describing the textile specs and best use suggestions in the style of a travel publication. Each page was notched at the top and bottom, and the binding was a piece of shock-cord (also used on the box). When new samples were added to the box, new pages could also inserted into the booklet providing a way to continually update the content without having to re-print the booklet each time.
