Fiber Fever: The colored Thread
During the summerschool Fiber Fever 2023, organised by Timelab, we were challenged with different braiding techniques. Magdalena Sophie Orland, Annelies Clerix and I tried to facilitate insight into two braiding techniques. By using color these techniques were made more accessible.
Maypole braid
Double faced flat braid
The result was a well-documented braiding archive, with a tool for each braid to easily create different color patterns. To exhibit the research and the various application possibilities of braiding techniques, we made a swing that consists only of one continuous braid made up of 32 threads, by combining the flat and the round braid.
