"László Darvasi's drama Madárhegy is set in a library room. The characters in the play live here, this is their home. Our play begins with Gonzo's daughter, who doesn't know why she is here. She is looking for her father, called Gonzo, the boss of this dump, and she wants to write a letter to her mother, called Gonzo's wife. A postman, who is said to be a thousand years old, is also a regular visitor to the dump, sometimes delivering the letters, sometimes not, depending on which one he likes. A strange character who claims to be a scarecrow also turns up, and his job is to keep the 'birds' away from the colony. The postman and the scarecrow slowly enlighten Gonzo's daughter as to why she is here, who Mr. Foreigner and his wife are, why the dump is in danger, and what is at stake. As events unfold, Gonzo's daughter grows up before our eyes, and as she grows up, her childish naivety and curiosity fades until she becomes like the circumstances."
