We had one semester of exterior furniture design at Belgrade Polytechnics and were tasked to make a set - a planter, a trash bin and a bench. Here is the first of those products - a planter.

This one actually defined my design theme for the whole set. It's a concrete base with a plastic top (aluminum finish) and a brass ring to create a nicer transition between the surfaces/materials. The brass ring would have an engraved thread on the inside so the plastic top can be screwed into place. The ring is connected to the concrete base using bolts.
