The Pitch

Renowned game show host of the outer planets, Ozzie Otterman invites all to his film studio to join in the fun and excitement of exploring mathematical concepts!

Presented as a game show for kids, every episode of Ozzie Hour features a unique mathematical concept based on Singapore’s primary school curriculum. Tag along and walk through mathematical problem solving with friendly alien eukaryotes who share their animated workings and thought processes. The best part is, everyone’s a winner!
Produced within 3 months on very limited resources and manpower, our team had the privilege to pour our hearts and souls breathing life, creating comedy and evoking engaging moments in this pilot episode produced for a local ed-tech company that was exploring educational, animated content in the form of a mathematics gameshow.

Heartfelt thanks to our team editors, Gloria Yeo and Morrie Tan for producing the animatics and all their hard work!
As lead story artist and content writer, I had been deeply involved with the project's development, writing and storyboarding for the pilot. The pedagogical elements were co-written by certified Ministry of Education educators working inhouse, with which we had the opportunity to collaborate closely with for the final creative scripts.
The series had originally been pitched as a green-screen, mixed media puppet show. However due to limitations in resources and hardware, the team and I had proposed using an Adobe Character Animator workflow instead, which, if you think about it, is really a digital puppet!
While the final character design can be largely attributed to Sarah Cheok, I was also involved in the early stages of visual development and style exploration.
