In June, 2021, I worked with Katha Books to illustrate the classic, Wheels on the Bus. The brief was to set it to an Indian context. I included action-based illustrations, which one can follow while reading.

The following images are from the initial draft. After some thought and guidance, I edited it quite a bit make the streets look more like India (inspired by Yelahanka New Town, Bangalore, where I've lived) and the bus to look more like the public buses of Kolkata, my hometown. I changed the bus driver to a woman to challenge gender stereotypes, and I tried to to include children of different abilities, so more children can see themselves in these illustrations.
