the brief for this project was to design a private, single-bedroomed beach house in the west coast national park, as an individual retreat but allowing for entertaining. the primary focus was an understanding of orientation, location and topography.
my approach endeavoured to integrate the building with its natural surroundings, and the indoors with the outdoors. this was achieved through a glazed roller door that spanned the length of the building, with elements such as counter tops extending through the barrier, blurring the edge. the interior is essentially one rectangular room, with elements such as fireplaces and counter tops splitting the space into more specific functions.
