Masking Tape Shoe

art school project
MASKING TAPE SHOE

Process:
Using only masking tape, recreate one of your shoes. Make sure to work
from your model shoe, paying close attention to form, line, texture, scale, and space.
Entire tape shoe should be hollow including sole. Strive to duplicate the object as
precisely as you can. Be sure to bring the shoe that you are duplicating to the crit so
that we can compare the masking tape object to the real thing.

Objective:
You will be able to observe an object/artwork and identify its design
elements (form, space, line, texture). See how well you can build three-
dimensionally working with a new material.

Materials:
At least 3 rolls of masking tape in varying sizes (1/2” 1” 3” etc.)
No blue tape, no green tape, no duct tape.
Mat knife or x-acto knife, scissors (optional).
One of your shoes

Shoe Selection:
No open toed shoes
No flip flops or sandals
No women’s dress shoes
Boots, athletic shoes, Vans, Chucks etc. make the best examples for this project.
