Commonkind is a non-profit that helps children gain access with volunteer work. In this University project we got to work with coomonkind to come up with ideas to expand engagment.
The Issue:
It is commonly acknowledged that volunteering numbers have dramatically decreased post-covid, and new means to provide these critical services must be discovered. According to the research, persons who have previously volunteered are more likely to volunteer again. Highlighting the wonderful prospect of including children in volunteer work from a young age, therefore preparing the charity sector for a more sustainable future with a greater volunteer base.
Resolved Idea:
As a result of our study, our team discovered a large number of organizations that are in charge of rehabilitating at-risk adolescents. These charity give services and programs to these youngsters, lowering their drug use, involvement in crime, improving their mental health, and providing possibilities for effective integration into society. We noted that the workshops provided by these charity were comparable to the present volunteer opportunities. This is where our concept came from: teaming charities with charities to reduce the strain on compassionate individuals who donate money to offer these workshops. However, connecting these at-risk, impoverished adolescents with volunteering opportunities that will strengthen their sense of community, create social relationships, and improve their academic performance is critical.
How it works:
Our idea works by utilizing Commonkind as a facilitator to find and link at-risk youth charities with comparable volunteering jobs at other charities, resulting in a mutually beneficial connection for all parties concerned.
From our investigation, we discovered the Ted Noff Foundation, which provides a significant number of classes to these poor youngsters that are strikingly comparable to a lot of existing volunteer opportunities. As an example, our group identified The Coffee Brigade as one of Commonkind's current partners and highlighted this interesting volunteering opportunity for at-risk adolescents to join in.
Why it would have an impact:
Our conceptual proposal would have an enormous effect on increasing the volunteering base in Australia because it would not only relieve the burden on at-risk youth charities that offer classes and mentorship, but it would also drastically increase the volunteering pool due to the large number of at-risk youth charities that operate in Australia.
Our proposal will help not just the charity, but also the at-risk youngsters. Increasing their feeling of community, their capacity to develop social relationships, and their potential to enhance mental health outcomes.
