Concept Board 1
Concept Board 2
Chose Concept Board 2 because it fits the theme of having an interface looking comfortable enough for users to navigate and learn.
Concept Board 1 has too many bright and soft colors which might interfere with the users' focus and concentration while learning. Furthermore, most of the colors in the color scheme under Concept Board 1 is similar; this might make it difficult for users to read the information as the contrast between the text and background is low.
Character (Logo and Stickers) Design
Based on Concept Board 2, I've developed specialized character icons/stickers and logo for this application.
The logo and stickers mimic the shape of single quotation marks. The reason is that for a language-learning application like Duolingo, it is important to convey a positive message to the users or the audience. The planet Earth as the dot of the single quotation mark represents that everyone in the world can communicate to each other. People with different backgrounds, culture and beliefs can talk to one another globally.

All edits and adjustments made are for the advancement in the UI (user interface) and UX (user experience) of the interface. Efficiency and effectiveness are reinforced for better convenience and navigation for the users.
