THE JUNGLE for PITTI UOMO 2014

INTRODUCTION
By analyzing visitors of Pitti Uomo Exhibition were formed four main groups according to each animal. Based on previous experiences, behaviors and expectations of visitors. To don't get lost in this chaotic atmosphere visitors should use mobile application. According to what results visitors will have after giving answers to questions they can be transmit to a sort type of an animal and receive suggestion about the exhibition. In addition, were produced four booklets and info graphics.
SEEING THE JUNGLE. STAIRCASE
Visitors first enter to the staircase space. In real jungle you see everything through the leaves, plants, trees, branches. You don't always see the whole image at first. That is why staircase space is completely covered with black threads curtains. To create changing structure of this surface there were used curtains with different size and shape. Layers overlap each other and create less or more transparent surface.
FEELING THE JUNGLE. INSIDE THE STAIRCASE
During their walkthrough visitors can move the curtains in order to feel the tropical rain. LED lights dropping down into a lake made of mirrored panels with different shape, size and angle. Due to the mirror on the floor all lights in reflection will go up directly to the viewer. Surface of the lake will be always changing and because of the window above the space will be filled with moving flecks of sunlight.
COVERING THE JUNGLE. FLOWER BOXES
Clothes, bags, shoes, hats are displayed in the flower boxes that are located in a staircase space. Because the visitors movement is intense here all the objects are covered. If you are interested you can stop, open the curtain and see the goods. The structure of the curtains and their transparency change according to the visitors point of view.
HIDING IN THE JUNGLE. VERTICAL POP-UP STORES
After leaving the staircase visitors can hide themselves in the jungle. Between the structure there is mirror so when visitors see the accessories they also see their and visitors reflections behind the wall. It creates the illusion of another space on the back of the vertical pop-up. The shape of panels moves and LED light color change while people are passing this corridor.
EXPLORING THE JUNGLE. POP-UP TABLES
Metal structure falls from the ceiling like a waterfall and melt down on the floor. It creates a hexagon kind of shape and creating a place for the pop-up tables. With vertical panels divide this area from the exhibition environment and also are used to hang a clothes. Tables has two levels and a light going from below to create a better way for presenting products.
FOLLOWING THE JUNGLE. PILLARS
Metal wires with LED light connect all the pillars by wrapping from one to another. To don't get lost in a big space of the exhibition visitors should follow this lights. They are appearing at the beginning of the way and disappearing at the and of the path like a jumping way of monkey.
PLAYING WITH THE JUNGLE. BACKDROP
The base of a backdrop is made of metal panels. Flexible strings are separated into groups and are hold by a handle with a magnet on a back. Visitors can change the position of them according to a different set up. They can play with a structure by creating a different patterns on a wall.
ENJOYING THE JUNGLE. BAR
Metal frames divide bar area from the exhibition space. They are wrapped with threads which create a transparent triangle pattern. Some parts of the wall form a space for seating. Bar design continues idea of overlapping. It is made of a metal panels with different size of perforation. Inside there is a triangle structure for stotaging drinks. Perforated lights with hexagon shape create a sort of flecks of sunlight and relate to the bar design. Black geometric chairs disappearing on a floor.
ENJOYING THE JUNGLE. LOUNGE
Lounge area in compare to Bar is more covered. Visitors can hide himself inside. Due to more intense structure of the threads on a partitions the surface is less transparent. It gives the possibility to project disappearing and appearing sentences on a wall. It creates a more relaxing atmosphere, especially with the movable foam settings that can be set up in different positions. In order to make original ceiling design inside existing panels were put transparent plastic panels that create more sheer light.
RELAXING IN THE JUNGLE. FUMOIR
Jungle can be very chaotic but you can always find shelter there. Just like in the Fumoir space on a roof of Pitti Uomo. Metal square tubes create a strong structure that works like a dome. To create a natural shelter from the sun some areas are wrapped with flexible color strings. Multilevel seating continue the linear pattern in this zone.
BUILDING UP
The building up process was made to help viewers better understand how each area was made in a funny and easy way.
VIDEO GAME
To show viewers how the space works I produced this video inspired by old 32-bit games. It shows the walkthrough four levels were each level is a new area of Pitti Uomo Exhibition. By moving in a space gamer should collect the points of view in order to see the final design.
FINAL EXHIBITION
We created a model looking like a big gamepad. Where each screen show the walkthrough with the level of the vide game. Crossed color strings were added to show chaotic movement of visitors in a space. In addition, we putted some information about brands presented in each pavilion.
