Sun Flowers Seeds Bag

Hello~

I am Lestari, I am a product design graduate who has specialized in the footwear field for more than 5 years. Nevertheless, I'm open to any role as long as it matches my skills.

As we all know the pandemic is a game-changer in everything, not to mention some of us lost our lovely, jobs, and property. Including me :) Yes. I was one of millions who got cut off because of the pandemic. Because I'm still alive and still in survival mode, I applied so many job vacancies as long as the role matched my skills, but most of them failed because of my specialization and age.

Last year, I went through the Eiger recruitment process which lasted for more than a month, I must say this is my longest recruitment experience. I applied for the Product Design role and had a chance to get a test and interview which is done in the stages. After the psychology test, they gave me the technical skills to find out: am I capable enough to be their tandem.
The
technical skill test brief is to design a woman's backpack (30 liters) with a picture of the material, front, back, side, isometric, and detail view, and also make 3 color options. Yes, it's a kind of to present a (mini) design concept, and here is mine...
SUNFLOWER SEEDS INSPIRED BACKPACK

PRODUCT
Hiking backpack (30 liters) for women made from mixed polyester materials.

DESIGN INSPIRATION
I chose to design a sunflower seeds-inspired backpack because I found that sunflower seeds have a good philosophy behind them: to appreciate and cherish every moment.

What things remind you of sunflower seeds? For me, the most remembered about the sunflower seeds was the effort to eat them. It is easy to open the seeds, but it is always time-consuming, isn't it? We all knew that but didn't mind doing it repeatedly because it was satisfying.

Also with hiking.

We all knew that the mountain was always more beautiful from afar, but we couldn't resist going there. So we make a move, step by step, even tiring it is always satisfying. As when we ate the sunflower seeds.

DESIGN CONCEPT
This hiking backpack adapted the form and the line of sunflower seeds on the front compartment by inverted pleats. The inverted pleats used to keep the often use things such as smartphone, charger,  and wallets. It can expanded depends on the things inside.
Note: I have not attached the original measurements and details because it is confidential
During the interview, they told me that they (actually) are looking for a 3D bag drafter, not a product designer :) They admit that their product is too manly and needs a woman's touch to make it more acceptable in the market. But again, my specialization is too far from what they expected, if I'm joining them I should start from scratch, they worried that I wouldn't be comfortable with the level.

Of course, I failed :), but I'm very glad to go by far, at least I got a chance to interview users and finish the test. My skills might be still far away from what they expected, but it's okay, because of this I knew what should I improve next.
