The Great Kobold Heist

One Brave kobold has been given the daunting task of stealing a very rare amulet from the local dragon living in the keep. The heist went off without a hitch and he can go home without the dragon catching wise, right? well... not really.
This comic was made as a final comic for my environment and prop design class at SCAD. We were required to design props and environments for a story, and then incorporate them in a four page comic. The project took place in six parts over 4 weeks.
Process
Below is the preliminary work I did for the project, including panel layout design and thumbnails. Much of this mini comic's writing was done during the layout stage due to its simplistic plot and focus on design. Clean thumbnails were made on sticky notes and scanned in to be edited with Photoshop to create the final comic.
The prop and environment design was half of the required work for the project, with 30 props required before the comic was written (but with a general theme in mind) and 4 environments required before the clean sketch stage. I found designing the numerous props with quality and speed tough, but a rewarding experience. Perspective in the environments were very important, as well as consideration for angles needed for the comic itself.
