This top-down view of the Burren in western Clare draws symbology from the juxtaposition of modern against ancient. This harsh unforgiving landscape once a struggle to live off is now but a passageway between towns and modern civilisation. The fickle and crumbling structure in the centre of the image is barriered off from the rest of the world with a stronger, more robust stone wall. The ribbon of graceful perfection of road surface is draped effortlessly around the old fort, bypassing the inconvenience of its existence.
