Senior Information Design Thesis: OOPS! Parenting Guide to Redefining Failure
Prompt: To cite a specific social problem and address it through design solution.
Problem Definition: Behaviors such as easily giving up, frustration and anxiety were observed to be prevalent in younger kids today as if failure is something to be avoided. This problem is said to be correlated to how parents respond to their child when faced with challenging situations. Further research into this may provide help to ease this problem, resulting in more resilient children. If fear of failure is not addressed in young children, they can grow up developing learned helplessness, low self-esteem and even self-handicapping.
