Lightbox- sand sculpted marine plywood, LED light

Light box - sand sculpted marine plywood with LED light, wire mesh sculpture and light reflective materials
After sanding the wood was treated with bee's wax and olive wood, then buffed to a soft sheen. The end result is very sensual, a beautiful tactile experience, a sculpture to be stroked and carressed.
The materials inside the wire sculpture were chosen for their light reflecting qualities. The textile is shimmery with plays of bluish and golden sheens. A smaller structure made of copper wires comes from the deepest parts of the wire sculpture and overflows with sparkles as the light hits it.
All of the sanding work is done over additional layers built on to a basic box structure
The sanding uses the different layers of plywood to create a design movement
This light box is, without a doubt, one of my favorite recent creations. From the first moment on making it has been an exciting adventure. I love the lighting it gives, love touching and carressing it and love staring at it from all sides.
