Course completion project “Children’s illustration: tell stories with characters and settings”, by illustrator Daniel Wu.
The objective was to retell the fable The Hare and the Tortoise with personal elements from each person. In this version, I decided to make the characters confectioners and work as a team, because I like sweets!
As I am Brazilian, the judges are animals from the Brazilian fauna, such as the jaguar, the capybara, and the golden lion tamarin. One of the competition's participants is inspired by a well-known character from a Brazilian cooking show on television, a parrot called Louro José, a stage assistant on the show.

Tired of this, the turtle decided to make a plan for the pastry contest.

While everyone was working, the tortoise took the hare's pot of cream and put the mystery box inside!

The mystery box was activated when the hare went to get the cream. And out came a clown! The hare got scared and threw his dessert in the air.

The dessert hit the judges' table, causing a huge mess! And the hare was expelled from the competition

The hare was devastated! And the tortoise felt very bad for what he did.

So he decided to apologize to everyone and tell the truth.

Fortunately, one judge tasted the hare dessert and loved the taste! The hare could participate again, but he would have little time... What now?

The hare decided to ask the tortoise for help. And for the first time, they worked together

The hare and the tortoise took 3rd place! And everyone says that now the two intend to open a pastry shop together… THE END
