In the aftermath of my harrowing journey across the Atlantic Ocean, I found solace in introspection and reflection. Words failed me, but through my art, I discovered a way to convey my innermost emotions. "Hidden Faces" portrays an ethereal figure, almost imperceptible, against a backdrop reminiscent of a ship's hull. The colors echo the vessel's side, representing the silent cries of my terror. The marked days in the background serve as a testament to the struggle for survival during the relentless ordeal, where my fellow crew members subjected me to constant abuse. Despite the haunting memories, this piece is a testament to my resilience and the unyielding strength I gained from the experience. Though the captain and first mate's actions were reprehensible, I found solace in knowing that their own minds would bear the weight of their deeds. This work became a catalyst for healing, much like many others born from this transformative journey, reminding me that I am alive and forever shaped by the challenges I have overcome.
