For one of my modules in my 3rd year of University, I was tasked with creating an interactive environment within UDK (Unreal Development Kit). Before I started this project, I had no previous knowledge of UDK or what it took to go from 3D program to Game Engine. I can easily say that I learned a hell of a lot, and grew a love for Kismet. Felt like when I discovered redstone in minecraft aways back.

The basic brief was to choose a working from 1 of 20 authors and poets, to which i chose the Great War poet, Wilfred Owen and his poem 'Disabled'. We had to show the basic understanding of UDK, producing artwork for games, and basic programming.
The original concept for my idea was to have a surreal setting where the environment changed to suit each of the verses in the poem. It went from Hospital to Park to Locker Room to Army Signup to Trenches and back to the hospital.
Sadly, a massive ammount of content had to be cut due to time constraints and Only the first and final verses were put in with a single hospital environment. Though, despite the cutbacks, I am extremely please with how it came out. I know so much more about the inner workings of games now, and my quest for further knowledge continues!
