® STEAM THE WRINKLES AWAY

The AEG ProSteam dryer uses steam to penetrate deep into the threads of your garment and not only
dry it with the gentle power of steam but also reduce the wrinkles – practically making ironing unnecessary. The task was to create a print campaign that shows off that feature. To showcase the way steam works, we went deep inside the garment itself – showing the effect of steam drying from close up and then creating the shape of the particular piece of clothing in each ad by straightening the threads in a particular shape – almost as if defining it by ironing it with the gentle power of steam.
I had the opportunity in this project to use some of the skills I've learned so far with my 3D experiments.
Here I will share with you how I did it. The biggest challenge in this image was the modeling part.
First I defined the thread grid. In this case only vertical parallel lines.
Then I started adding vertices to make the outline of the garment.
Surprise! It looks like a blouse.
With the vertices selected, I inverted the selection and added points to the threads.
I assigned a selection set for the threads that compose the blouse.
Preserving the vertices that make the blouse, I used the comb tools to mess the threads.
Then it was just a matter of pushing vertices around to find the perfect composition.
For last, I placed a background just to added some shadows and texture to the image.
For the other motifs was just a matter of finding the perfect grid for the threads.
For the shirt, I used a cross checkered pattern.
For last we also used a cross checkered pattern, but this time using a rhombus.
Then it was just a matter of again adding the vertices to design the skirt.
