Jesus Convent's church altarpiece

The hardcover book, some merchadising products and a 15 postcard collection with case were a 2011 project idea from myself with two other work colleagues − a project of the Setúbal Municipality, competed for funds allocated by the National Network of Museums of Portugal.

I decided to create a symbol based on a motif seen on several panels of the Jesus Convent’s altarpiece. The dogs symbol seen in these pages was thoroughly created based on a fabric’s painting pattern seen on two of the fourteen altarpiece panels. The fabric painted details are very diffuse.

There is a scheme of the panels composition above the subtitle pages and on the reverse of the postcards for an easy identification of each panel among the altarpiece panels set. To avoid white background the pages of the book and postcards showing the panels have a darker color, so the renaissance paintings can emerge.

The paper chosen for the book, dustjacket, postcards and case was Creator Natural Matt in various weights. The guard pages in a porous Topset. Each postcard have UV varnish applied only on to the painting. All the pages were protected with offset varnish. The dustjacket have an additional Pantone® metallic silver color.
