Identity Design - Chiton Athletics

The Chiton Athletics Brand for women, is based off of the ancient Heraea Games. They were the first sanctioned women’s athletic competition to be held, dated early as the 6th century. Because women were not allowed to view or watch the Olympic games, this form of competition was created. The ladies who competed, wore their hair down and wore a chiton dress that hung to their knees. A chiton was a piece of clothing in the Ancient Greek world that women wore. It was made of two sheets of light drapery that was worn directly over the body. Like the men’s competition, Heraea oringinally consisted of foot races only, but expanded as time went on. The champions of this competition were awarded and wore olive crowns, a sign of beauty and athleticism. The chiton history is important to our foundation because it represents the true women athletes of our time.
