Light installation MARKER

Šventaragis’ Valley is a historical place of Baltic culture, where, according to legend, Duke Šventaragis chose a beautiful spot in the valley, at
the confluence of the Neris and the Vilnia, and instructed his son Skirmantas to build a temple, where he would have to be cremated after his death. He also ordered the remains of Lithuanian dukes and nobles to be cremated there. Many years later, Grand Duke Gediminas was hunting and decided to camp in the valley. There he dreamed of a howling Iron Wolf, and the pagan priest Lizdeika explained the dream as a sign that Gediminas would build the capital of Lithuania here. Thus, Gediminas became the founder of Vilnius.
The shape of the light installation, dedicated to the memory of the legend of Šventaragis’ Valley, resembles a sign marking the place where all of this happened. It was where paganism, Christianity, what was, what changed, and what will be intersected. Walking through this ‘crossroad’, you can decide for yourself which direction to choose and create your own legend, a future. The installation is like an altar burning with cold blue fire.
