Research theme
Urban standardization phenomenon and identity crisis of the big cities

Large cities are facing the crisis of losing their identity as they grow to look similar to each other with globalization and modernization. This project explores how to make people recognize this phenomenon by showing text-removed city images and text-only landscapes.

BOOK COVER
The city with all text erased (Anonymous cities)
In the first section, cities with text erased, a total of three cities are placed, one on each side of twice-folded papers. These pieces of paper are designed to be flipped sideways, with a total of six pieces twice-folded. These pieces of paper are not fixed to the book because this way the original city photos can be seen when the folded pieces are opened.
Landscapes made up of only text  (Wandering texts)
These are landscapes that are only filled with text from each of the 18 cities. This part is anchored in the book and is designed to be viewed after seeing the photos of section
Original photos of cities
The original photo is revealed by unfolding the pieces of paper in the first section. Each piece contains three cities, and the three cities are grouped together with cities that share similar characteristics to emphasize the phenomenon of uniformity in the city to the audience.
