Illustrated Post Paper Co.

The following is an identity package created for a fictional paper company, "Illustrated Post". Inspiration for the company came from Louis Prang, sometimes known as "Father of the American Christmas Card". Prang was one of the most influential and prolific print publishers of the 19th century; he specialized in chromolithography and printed everything from business cards to greeting cards. Prang believed that everyone had a right to quality and art. The Illustrated Post Paper Company shares Prang's beliefs and mission.
The logo, a quill and ink, represents the late 19th century and the "post" or mail. The goal was to represent the quality, craftsmanship, and elegance of the period and Prang's work but in a clean, simple, and modern way. Pattern, color, and typography were used to create a unified design that reflected the brand. Inspiration came from late 19th century mail, including paper stamps, rubber stamps, envelopes, and letterheads.
