"AN IMMINENT END"
BELOW THE NECK
More a piece of art than design, the centrepiece for this release is a handcrafted piece of abstract expressionism, using hand painted bleach on a print of a photo to create a completely unique image.

The bleach separated the ink and created a dripping magma-like effect. scanned in and heavily textured to create a gritty and dark feel to an already grim and macabre piece.

This project included the main design, the cover art and art piece, as well as cohesive branding for the release, and other designs for the band such as a Cassette Tape and J-Card Inlay, a Digipak CD, and a custom T-shirt design to coincide with the release.
For the colour palette for the T-shirt, I chose a drab and dull red, and a fairly dark grey. I could have suggested a bright white and a saturated red for a more bright and high contrast feel, but that would not fit the branding and feel of the piece. Low saturation and dark highlights creates a vintage and faded feel, and I believe helps create a subtle sense of premium and nostalgia.

The use of dithering and different densities in the red allowed for me to create the illusion of gradients and give the illusion of multiple layers of colour and depth within the red layer, keeping production costs very low for the band.
