Brief
In this personal project, I wanted to design a simple contemporary solid wood furniture using the natural contrast between the walnut and spruce woods.
One of the constraints in the design was the ease of manufacturability, as I wanted to practice my prototyping and woodworking skills and decided to build it by hand with the tools I had at home; a jigsaw and a drill.
Ease of assembly has been considered. Just 8 M6 screws are used, with metal inserts that eliminate the possibility of alignment mistakes.
Legs are designed to fit inside the table surface area to achieve the smallest possible packaging size.
Process
Design was made as a desk and coffee table set, I have only finalized the coffee table as I had to build it in my house.
I have designed and 3D printed special guides and jigs to get the angles right and holes centered.
