This was a third year architecture project situated in Stoke Bardolph, Nottingham. The brief for this project was a bird watching retreat where people could not only bird watch, but also stay overnight and interact with the birds and wildlife in a more interactive way. This was achieved though bird boxes being attatched to the overnight tree accommodations so that users could see the birds up close, creating a new bird watching experience. This project combines both hand drawing and CAD drawings.
The first building of this retreat is the central building. This is the more social building which includes a cafe, shop, W/C's and shower facilities and also a workshop space where people can learn about the local bird and wwildlife as well as hold meetings or strategies. The roof above the W/C's has been intergrated into the ground so that it slopes up into a hill. This can then allow users to bird watch from the roof or simply admire the surroundings.

The second building is the bird hide. This is situated away from the central space as it needs to be more discrete. As my concept is concealment, I have intergrated the tables and chairs into the walls of all three buildings so that they can be taken out as required. This allows flexibility of the spaces and also gives the users a choice of where to sit and when. (See final image for step by step of an intergrated stool).

The final building is the overnight tree accomodations. These will be situated in the trees to incourage birds to nest in the attatched bird boxes. These accommodations are very simple however, furniture will be able to come out of the walls for sleeping, bird watching and storage.
