My Visual notes of a Mastercard event keynote on the hot button topic of Generative AI.
As a professional Illustrator and artist who has spent many hours and years perfecting his craft I have strong feelings about it's use. I'm not against the tech itself, but I can't get beyond seeing it as bad news for the financial future of creatives.
The legalities around copyright and how different generative AI systems have been trained on harvested data and images from the Internet has yet to be tested, with a number of cases currently before the U.S courts. Even if the Artists win, (which is a strong possibility!)
It may be too late to have an impact on usage.
What can you do? Support humans and real creativity.
