A Nut of Information Cross-Stitch (2022)

A Nut of Information Cross-Stitch
This project was my first cross-stitching project using a self-drafted design. The design was inspired by an episode by the Neurodivergent Women Podcast discussing communication styles, and how "nuts of information" are shared by neurodivergent people.

This project was designed digitally in September 2022 and completed in October 2022.
The following digital drawing was created on a drawing tablet, printed out on stabilizer paper, and stitched on top. Instead of printing the first design on my stabilizer, I used a cross-stitch outline of the second photo to understand where each cross-stitch needed to be placed while following along with each color on the digital design.

Because the sizing of cross-stitch patterns are determined by the size of the aida fabric, I decided to not stitch this project on aida and used regular fabric instead, leaving me to determine the size of the cross-stitch squares myself. Each individual square represents where the cross-stitch should be placed. I used the square corners to understand where the stitches should start and end. I did this because it was much easier to size the final product within an 8x8" hoop by printing out the design instead of trying to do the math and find the correctly sized aida fabric.
