INDIVIDUAL WELL-BEING
THROUGH ART AND CRAFT
Individual wellness refers to one’s physical, mental, and social health. Nowadays, people are mostly suffering from stress and anxiety. Light can promote or degrade human health, including cognitive and overall well-being. Because of this issue, I decided to build a lampshade out of marble paper. Excessive stress can put us in a constant state of fight or flight, leaving us exhausted or unable to manage. Light therapy can improve or degrade our sleep, cognitive, and overall well-being. Light can reduce depression levels and even improve cognitive skills such as reaction time and activation. The intensity of a color is defined by its saturation. More intense colors can heighten emotions, whilst quieter colors might decrease them. Most businesses are following sustainability as a concept. A circular economy is an economic system in which raw materials, components, and products lose as little value as possible. Upcycling, cascading, and high-grade recycling are all forms of upcycling when it comes to reuse. By recycling waste fabrics, we can produce recycled paper. Marble papers can be used to create lampshades, which are elegant and expose light in different colors. This production process is in line with the circular economy and achieves sustainable goals like SDG 8 (work and economic growth) and SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production). Most importantly this helps to improve the individual well-being by creating a stress busting environment.
