Concept : face game

The ability to recognize a person's emotional state from their facial
features is fundamental to social interactions across all cultures.

In research studies, Autistic children show greater difficulty in distinguishing different emotional expressions on human faces. This is thought to be an underlying factor leading to facial affect and social characteristics seen in Autistic individuals.

This block set is designed to encourage the exploration and recognition of emotional facial expressions in a fun and graphically interesting way. By rearranging blocks one can build expressions that span the spectrum of all seven universal emotions: happiness, anger, contempt, fear, sadness, disgust and surprise.

The game is produced by a simple procedure that can be carried out by high-
functioning autistic adults, giving them an opportunity for productive work.

Blocks are rotated inside of a frame, while being stamped on three sides by the templates shown above. The fourth contiguous side can be painted in a vibrant solid color, while the two remaining "top-and-bottom" sides are left blank.
