For my master thesis I decided to devote myself to a subject that is already long on my heart – music. Music is an important part of my life so it was a great opportunity to connect it with graphic design, another big love of mine. I know that many graphic designers would love to design the album artwork for a musician they love. So every graphic designer wants at least one album cover in his portfolio. There are a lot of books which claim to have the 1000 coolest covers but there is not one which analyzes the graphic design of them. That is why I have decided to collect album artwork and sort them by genre. I analyzed each cover so I could find graphic trends for every genre.

I also presented two of the most important designers for album artwork and spoke with them about the changing role of the cover.
