Thoughts on Typography and Layout is a student assessment exploring publication layout. It aims to allow students to explore different typographic layouts and creative techniques. The four essays supplied to students are a collection from well-established visual communication designers that have been collated for educational purposes.

Throughout the publication, typographic elements, such as hierarchy, layout, colour, white space, and alignment, have been implemented. Alongside the typographic elements, symbols were used on pages to separate the essays, allowing for a cohesive publication design. The use of only black and white gives the publication a feeling of a modern yet simple design allowing the viewer to immerse themselves into the content provided to them.

Reflective Statement
Doing this assessment has reiterated that I enjoy the design aspect of a paged layout, not so much organising text. It has helped me understand white space, typefaces, colour (or lack thereof), hierarchy, and alignment. Though not something I wish to pursue in the future (publication Layout) I will say that I did enjoy this assignment, and I’m sure many of the aspects that I have learnt will lend a hand in the future, wherever I end up.
