The Brief
In this conceptual project on city branding, I have decided to rebrand the suburb Braamfontein, Johannesburg, South Africa. The goal: create a dynamic, bold brand for the suburb with various elements including a logo, stationery, outdoor activation as well as guidelines for future design advertisements.
A Brief History of Braamfontein

Braamfontein, bordering the City Centre and linked to Newtown via the Nelson Mandela Bridge, has become a vibrant hub. It's a magnet for students, creative individuals, and street fashion enthusiasts. The area boasts museums, theaters, lively nightlife, trendy coffee shops, contemporary art galleries, fashion stores, and abundant street art. Braamfontein is also Johannesburg's fourth-largest office space node, with a history of businesses relocating there during the 1930s and 1950s. Over the years, it has evolved into a bustling business and residential district, catering to students and office workers. The area offers a range of evening and weekend activities, including legendary nightclubs and fine dining restaurants.

Logo
Logo Secondary Colours
The colour paltete was chosen to be birght and have a friendly nature. its meant ot make you feel good and have the positive vibes travel through your entire body. the colours were chosen as they provide for this to be translated to the viewer and works well in digital and print media.
Typeface
Loos Normal was chosen as my font as it has a very geometric, block-like appearance which fits the brand as it falls into the mid-century vibe, and with minor tweaks (edit of the "I" ) it made for the perfect logo typeface.
it also isn't too heavy and can be used in the body copy as well.
