Published by Kehrer, Los Angeles based photographer Pamela Littky's book "Vacancy" is a thoughtful survey of two towns on opposite sides of Death Valley - Baker, Nevada, and Beatty, Nevada. The people, the desert landscape, the cultures and life in these geographically forbidding locations all shot on film and lit, make for a beautiful yet hauntingly artistic and memorable look into society and environment in Death Valley. Each person or environment telling a story through the lens of the artist. We drew on a restrained design language to allow the maximum room for the art in the photography to speak, but leaned toward a style that would help frame the project as the high art that it is.
