The premise behind this project was to develop various iterations of a possible addition to the existing Dacotah Praire Musuem which is located in Aberdeen, South Dakota. As a rule, the first instance of the project was directed to the exploration of the urban conditions and context of the city from which the design was informed and orchestrated. One key element is that the existing must not inform the design considering that the exploration was solely conceptual in its nature. Programmatically, the design should house a childrens musuem, an outdoor exhibition space, an outdoor theater and an auditorium. The language of the models contains three constants - the existing structure represented by a foam block, the streets by a white base and the site proper by a brown sheet - and one variable, the design.
