Inspired by the consistent paradoxical making and unmaking of maintenance within my house, I find hope and validation in the labor of creative production. Using cement, I create sculptural paintings in response to the energies I have embodied through my lived spaces.
While displaying multiple connotations of architecture, the repetitive making, through the medium at hand conveys ideas of labor and converses with the space of the exhibition. Employing subtle mark-makings using self-collected discarded construction material like industrial glass and gestures resting within accumulated dust in nooks and crannies, I encourage an intimate interaction with the work - offering the paintings as windows, portals and thresholds, thus, establishing a dialogue between the internal and external.
