For my type and design course at University of Illinois Urbana Champaign we were tasked with designing for future Olympic events. I was given the opportunity to build a brand for Brisbane 2032. Now, Brisbane has never hosted the Olympics so it was a fresh slate with only being able to look at how Sydney designed for their games. Throughout the process I kept in mind three words. Warm, Vibrant, and Thriving. With that I created my own branding for their summer games.
I wanted to make sure to add my mood board to show my initial thoughts when I was working to figure out where I wanted to go with my design process. I worked through logo design, color choices, type, and imagery that was being used to showcase Brisbane online.
I wanted to have my logo reflect how sunny Brisbane Australia really is. Brisbane is sunny at least 283 days of the year. So I went with a sun design which also worked really well with the three words I kept in mind while designing.
The Koala on the tote bag is the mascot I created for the games. His name is Brizzie the Koala. The reason the mascot is a Koala is because the largest Koala sanctuary is in Brisbane.
I did design three emails for the games itself as shown above. I only have one full email shown to avoid receptiveness and to show what it would look like as a whole design-wise.
