Hello World! These characters were developed by Shilafascrim, also known as Soraya Chaves, for an children's book illustration project called Rocco is a Star, meet Skye, Rocco and Marta. The instagram crowd helped me a lot choosing details like their clothing and the fluffy Rocco's snout.
Here we can see what a page with the characters interacting looks like, they were made for each other and the drawing is an invitation to the feel the love between dog and owner at miles and miles away.
On the more technical side, these are called model sheets and it helps me to keep drawing them on a simular basis, this tip I got from my animation classes, were developing model sheets are a must at a prodution from any level.
On the more comic side of things, we now get to see that Rocco and Marta get to have more funny interactions with each other, which is fundamental on a story about a somber topic like grief it is important to get our readers to laugh a little before the story climax.
From left to right we've got the wonderful trio Rocco, Marta and Skye. And for now that's all folks!
