The second installment in a 12 part series for Charlotte magazine.

In the 1780’s British General Charles Cornwallis and crew storm through Mecklenberg County looking for food and planning a take over. While chasing chickens, a group kicks over a bee’s nest and the swarm appears. The confused and embarrassed British soon flee the area.

Part 4- The railroad comes to town, boosting the economy and morale of the local townspeople. 

Part 5- The Civil War hits close to home in Charlotte. Families wait in fear for their sons to return home.
