Ellen Lupton, the renowned graphic designer, cautioned her students against "desperate acts of design in the absence of a strong concept." She said that "A good idea provides a framework for design decisions, guiding the work
For this typographic, anamorphic installation, it was our goal to follow her advice. The construction and design of the sculpture required a lot of thought and planning, but the individual hanging elements didn't need to be complex. They were able to accomplish their purpose as simple, cube forms.
The viewer should observe the work first on the left. to perceive the word "THINK," then move 90 degrees to the right to reveal the word "MORE" within the sculpture.
